Yes, the course is designed to run on computers and on home entertainment systems (standard home DVDs).
Do I need a computer?
No, as long as you have access to a TV and DVD player. Additional resources are available online which we would recommend you use, but are not essential to finish the course.
I’m interested in organic and waterwise gardening is your course applicable?
Yes, your designs can be tailored to suit an organic and/or waterwise garden. Additional information on organic gardening and waterwise gardening is included on the website
I only have a small garden is your course of use?
Yes, the course is for any size garden.
I have a large garden are the design principles used applicable?
Yes, many of the techniques we demonstrate are applicable to large gardens and we have additional resources on the ‘members only’ dedicated website that are only for larger gardens
I am not very good at drawing, will this be a problem?
No, we will show you some simple ways to produce good looking drawings. In addition if you buy the ‘Design Your Garden’ Course before the end of December 2008 we will also give you a ‘Garden Design Graphics’ DVD to help you produce professional looking drawings in Black and white, and colour.
How long will the course take?
The DVDs are only 2 hours long but we recommend you take your time, working with the Workbook and additional resources on the website. You can start designing almost immediately and you will definitely start practicing within 30 minutes.
I already studied some landscape design is your course still useful?
Yes, the skills we teach will reinforce the knowledge and offer additional information to help you design effectively.
How can you learn to design a garden in only two hours?
In reality the DVDs are two hours long. Designing will take longer as you will need to practice the skills you are learning.
Do I need to follow your entire course?
No, you can jump in at any point. The DVDs have clearly defined chapters that allow you to go to the information that interests you. We would however recommend that you watch both DVDs at least once as there is a lot of important information that is part of a ‘design process’ which is essential for a clear, well thought-out and designed garden. In some cases you will probably need to watch the chapter more than once as you practice the content.
I live in a tropical country is your course still applicable?
Yes the DVD is designed for all temperature zones. Apart from the core skills you learn there is additional information on the Website giving more information on each temperature zone.
I know nothing about plants or gardening will your DVD course be helpful?
Yes the Course takes you through some key knowledge of plants and planting that are essential before you start to choose plants
Professional Landscape Design Principles sounds complex and difficult will I find the course too hard to follow?
The Course uses animations and graphics to make all the design principles easy to understand. You may need to reflect on what you are learning and practice the principles to fully understand them.
Is your course useful for any environment? I live in a wet, cold city with a tiny garden.
Yes we’ve designed the course for any garden or climate.
Will I need to know construction techniques?
As the garden designer you will choose what materials you would like to include in your garden. In some cases you will be able to do this yourself, in other cases you may need a professional builder or landscape gardener. You can design the garden within your budget, considering the skills you have available, either yourself or through friends or contacts.
I am a lazy gardener and just want somewhere to socialise with my friends will your DVD Landscape Course help?
Yes, some gardening principles are easy to apply and we have sections on low maintenance gardens, contemporary gardens and designing for people.
How much will it cost me to design and build a garden?
We are teaching you design skills. As the designer you will decide how much you can spend on a garden. As part of the garden design process you will make decisions based on materials and labour which will effective the final price.
